I wish to invite you at the opening of my solo show at Vida Vida gallery in Point-Claire. We have chosen to show some of my Jacquard weavings on contemporary dance exclusively : some from Rodin et Claudel, a choreography by Peter Quanz, two pieces from Flower showing Yoshito Ohno – a choreography by Yoshito Ohno and Lucie Grégoire, 74 directions by Christine Bourget, Un orteil dans le vide with Sandy Bessette and Frédéric Lemieux-Cormier, L’envolée, from a choreography by Sarah Chase from Montréal Danse, and one other textile showing a dancer from La Chambre blanche, a choreography by Ginette Laurin.

Dance International
The spring edition 2014 of Dance International magazine has given me an entire page with the photo of my large format Jacquard textile Rodin , Claudel # 1. It is because of the choreographer Peter Quanz’s enthusiasm that the magazine got interested in my work. This work represents important parts of the choreography created by Peter .
The large faces of Rodin and Claudel were photographed with my iPhone at the first representation of Rodin and Claudel at Place des Arts in 2012. The faces were projected onto the curtain . In the foreground, the main dancer who embodies Claudel is represented. I detached the character from my photography of a scene that happens towards the end of the choreography and I painted in red the dress of the dancer (my weaving was done in black and white). At the right , we see Claudel leaving towards her place of internment . And finally from left to right at the bottom of the image, the bodies crouched on the ground represent the sculptures that were destroyed by Claudel before she finally leaves her lover, Rodin. A fifth photo was taken of a projected image of a glass window and incorporated in my fresco. I thank Peter for allowing me to take more than a hundred pictures at the avant-premiere of 2012.
New works on paper
February was very inspiring for me. I made my own experiences of calligraphy with the theme and tools excerpts of my weaving, bits of threads, fine and coarser yarns, historical Jacquard specimens. The first prints on thick cardboard were performed. Then came the stage of inking. What a pleasure! Seeing fast results, good or bad, excited me. The work of weaving is so long and it’s only after several hours, several days weaving of the same work that you can appreciate the results. These new experiences comforted me a lot. Under the tab Artworks on paper, you will find my first collection of small prints.
Nelligan at Maison de la Culture Mercier

That may be your last chance to see, in Montréal, the exhibition Nelligan, Le Vaisseau d’or.
The artists will present their works Sunday, February 16 from 2 pm : the fashion designer Yves Jean Lacasse, three painters, Joséane Brunelle, G. Scott MacLeod and Tristan Tondino and the textile artist Louise Lemieux Bérubé.
The Maison de la culture Mercier is 5 minutes from the Honoré-Beaugrand metro station.
A workshop with Kiranada Sterling
I signed up to five days of fun from 28 May to 1 June to explore Rozome technique with Kiranada Sterling. Kiranada is a master of this technique. She has written several books and produced videos. It is an honor and a unique opportunity to have her with us in Montreal.
I invite you to visit the site of espace-fibre where the workshop will take place. Espace-fibre is specialized in dyeing and especially in all that concerns the indigo dye. The center is run by Valerie Walker. I now occupy a small studio space there, which allows me to dye/paint on my woven Jacquards.
Although this technique is not my field, I think it is always rewarding to see what is happening in a “neighbour” studio.

My first artwork on paper
In memoriam, 2013, 30 x 40 cm, a collagraph in memory of my friend Serge Desjardins.
Under the watchful eye of Nicole Doré Brunet, chief of the Glypto Workshop at the Association des artistes de LaSalle, I took my first steps last fall in printmaking and paper medium.
It is a small piece of tatting that Serge Desjardins created and he had given me several years ago that has guided my composition. This small textile piece is real, pasted on the surface of the paper. Other elements, remnants of my past weaving with metallic threads, and a few bits of a textured yarn, became prints that naturally took their place into my composition, while I was thinking about that friend who recently passed away. The sepia ink (a beautiful color ink that I love and that I have adopted) captures my feeling of sadness and the blue color marks the symbol of our friendship and our shared passion for textiles.
At the Botanical Garden in Montreal
Until early in January, I am exhibiting two of my artworks on the theme of Winter. The one at the left is a scene I have captured in Angrignon Parc in Montreal, and the one at the right is a photo that I have shot in Whitehorse, some years. ago. Both images were edited and woven with a manual/electronic Jacquard weaving loom.
Nelligan : Le Vaisseau d’or
With Yves Jean Lacasse, and three painters, Joséane Brunelle, G. Scott MacLeod and Tristan Tondino, we have merged our universes and took a contemporary look at the life and work of the poet Émile Nelligan. The exhibition oscillates between the past and modernity comprising oil paintings, drawings, textile designs and to top it off, we created two group installations. It was shown at Maison de la culture Côte-des-Neige in the fall. It will next be installed at Maison de la culture Mercier in January. Opening: Saturday, January 18.
